Astro's Playroom will come pre-installed on every single PlayStation 5 console Sony sells this holiday season, and it looks to be a game that takes full advantage of the unique capabilities of the next-gen DualSense controller. Summer Game Fest lead Geoff Keighley had the chance to go hands on with both the pad and the free title as part of today's livestream, and he couldn't stop showering praise onto the two of them.
In the near four-minute gameplay demo you can watch above, Geoff explores various environments as Astro Bot and gets up to all sorts of mischief. The PS5's adaptive triggers can be used to judge the weight of a jump while blowing onto the controller itself will cause an in-game fan to spin. You can even hear the footsteps of Astro Bot through the speaker as well as other little audio cues. Keighley mentioned that Astro's Playroom will be a "multi-hour" game, so it sounds like we'll all have something to play around with while we wait for the bigger PS5 titles to download and install on launch day.
Will you be checking out Astro's Playroom when you pick up your own PS5? Let us know in the comments below.

Interesting that you get a PS3 as prize in the game. hhhhmmmmmmm... HhhhhMmmmm... HHHHMMMMMMMM this means nothing, don't read into it.
The mic on the DS was responsible for some great gameplay mechanics and some utterly atrocious ones that just didn’t recognise anything. Sounds like my kinda gimmick.
Astro Bot is one of the best games I've played this generation so I'm hoping this is substantial or they make a full game too. I will say this will be the first game I'll play when getting PS5
@carlos82 I think this will be a fairly short experience, but I'm willing to bet Japan Studio is busy making a full fledged Astro Bot 2.
I like a free game with the console but these features (or at least the way they are introduced here) seem like the kind of Nintendo touch I despise in their post GameCube systems, gimmicks posed as innovations.
I don't mean specifically on this site, but I think a lot of people think this is some short little demo. According to Geoff it's a full multi hour game that showcases the pad. In the same way Astrobot showcases VR but it's a game in itself. So it's a nice bonus to have it pre installed on the PS5 for free.
That's cool, a whole free platformer game to shows the controller features. I hope sony make full 3D astrobot platformer game for ps5
N.i.c.e .thats a cool platformer.we need more.about the pupeteer 2 or sly cooper 5.word up son
This is so cool, even though it's not a big game I like having stuff like this available
@Feena The difference between this and Nintendo is that Sony adds the gimmick without really taking any of the functionality of the controller or changing the form factor, you don't end with a controller that's useless for non gimmicky play or forced to buy a separate controller for traditional gaming
Cause of Death: blew too hard.
Imagine a fly landing on the controller during a section with precise blowing and you blow the fly off messing up your game.
This might be the first PS5 game I play but if R&C comes out on the day the PS5 comes out then this will have to wait + I despise all the moving the controller around like an idiot in the early days of PS3 :-/ I just hated that in games.
The wii u had the blowing feature in mario 3d world
Astrobot is fricking awesome. We were even eaten by a whale mate!
Blowing into a controller really ? I'm sure ps5 has much better features than this.
You can say what you want about Jeff and he was awkward and not the best to demo obviously BUT he s not afraid to ask questions gamers would that most journalists wont for some reason.
@Dobbos maybe blowing into the controller makes the Ps5 fans spin faster to keep it cool. Or with next gen gta 5 and cyberpunk 2077, you can kiss someone in the game by kissing the touchpad on the controller😀
I look forward to breathing very erotically into that controller and make my wife jealous.
@JON22 😂😂😂
I'm sure this game is going to be amazing it looks it. With regards to the Dual Sense Geoff was showing off the haptic feed back, and the clever use of the built in speaker. Obviously you lot are obsessed with blowing LOL !!
